The Gentle Art of
Jin Shin Jyutsu Acupressure

What is Jin Shin Jyutsu®?
Jin Shin Jyutsu is a gentle application of hands to re-establish Balance and Harmony. Its purpose is to help balance your life energy and achieve optimum health. Hands-on sequences are used to restore emotional equilibrium and to relieve pain. It may also help release the cause of both acute and chronic conditions.

During a session, the practitioner listens to your 12 pulses in the wrists of the client and uses this information to choose a "flow" (a certain combination and sequence of hand holds), which can help to restore Harmony, Balance & Well-Being in your Body, Mind and Spirit. Jin Shin Jyutsu is a healing art with a history of over 5000 years. It is based upon our own natural, innate ability to harmonize ourselves. For thousands of years, ancient peoples used this awareness to heal both themselves and others.
Jin Shin Jyutsu can help to harmonize behavior, as most behavioral problems are created by disharmony in the body. It can also help to support the body in its recovery process following illness or surgery.

Jin Shin Jyutsu empowers you to get to know yourself and your body. The easy to learn, use and understand Self Help Tools of Jin Shin Jyutsu allow you to take responsibility for your own Health, Well-Being and challenges in Life.

Jin Shin Jyutsu employs 26 Safety Energy Locks (SELs) along the energy pathways (meridians) at each side of the body. Holding these SELs in a certain combination and sequence assists in the unblocking of stagnation to allow energy (circulation) to flow evenly again, restoring good functioning and balance to the body. By using your hands as “jumper cables” on a combination of SELs in a certain sequence, you recharge and regenerate your body and clear blockages, in much the same way as applying jumper leads to a run-down battery in a motor vehicle. Jin Shin Jyutsu assists in restoring the natural flow of the energy pathways, bringing balance to body, mind and spirit.

The Jin Shin Jyutsu Session.

A Jin Shin Jyutsu® session generally takes about an hour. It does not involve massage, manipulation of muscles or use of drugs or substances. It is a gentle art, practiced by placing the fingertips (over clothing) on designated Safety Energy Locks, to harmonize and restore the energy flow within the body. This facilitates the reduction of tension and stress which accumulates through normal daily living. After your session you may be given easy self-help excrcises to do at home, which will complement the session.

Background information

Jsj JiroJSJ MaryJin Shin Jyutsu® is a healing art with a history of over 5,000 years, and means “the art of the creator through compassionate man”. The healing art that those words represent is based upon our own natural, innate ability to harmonize ourselves. For thousands of years, people have used this awareness to heal both themselves and others. Over time this awareness was all but forgotten until a Japanese sage named Jiro Murai (see left picture) rediscovered Jin Shin Jyutsu in the early part of the twentieth century. His three key students included Mary Burmeister (a Japanese American, see right picture), her father and Haruki Kato. Mary Burmeister brought the art from Japan to America in 1954 and through her teachings, books and thousands of classes held around the world this awareness continues to grow. Today, over 13,000 practice this art. The main office is in Scottsdale, Arizona, USA.
